First Impression
First Impression has been Canada's most winning hackney horse in the
past twenty years. Foaled in 1992, he was bred and exhibited by Mark
Annett, Wyoming, Ontario, were he was a winner in the Futurity class as a
yearling at the Ontario Hackney Show. Dennis Alderman took notice to the
talented youngster and took possession of him that day. As a three year
old, First Impression was out in harness, winning junior and open classes
as well as high in the ribbons in the stallion classes on the line. Dennis
showed the horse often, winning in all levels of competition. In 1999, Art
Alderman would be guiding the career of First Impression, claiming the
World Champion Title in 2000 and 2002, as well as four times winning the
Amateur World Championship at the Royal Winter Fair. Other Victories
included the Devon Horse Show, The Canadian National Exhibition, the
Ontario Hackney Assocation Show, Ormstown, and wins at many horse shows in
Ontario. Sired by Lasting Impression, and out of Pretty Fancy Lady, First
Impression has assured himself a prominent place in the history of the
Hackney Horse.
