Harold Patton
(1915 - 1995) Harold's
breeding program began in 1955 with the purchase of his first Hackney Horse
mare and continued until his death in 1995. Harold not only bred and
raised some of the finest Hackney Horses of the 20th Century, he was also
the most honest and gentlest man. Once, four years after selling a
horse to a young exhibitor, the horse passed away, upon hearing this Harold
offered to replace this horse with a new one - free. Nice warrantee!
Harold was the breeder of Hartzett Paddy, Haven's Music Man, Haven's Joanne,
Miss America and Lonely Penny. Harold also purchased Dufferin Haven
in 1965 from Kathleen Ryan. Harold never forgot his humble beginnings
and went out of his way to help anyone who sought his advice. Throughout
the 1980's and 1990's it was not uncommon to see almost all of the Hackney
Horses at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, tracing back to Harold's breeding.
Harold with wife Zetta raised the standard for Hackney Horse breeding.
